can love really transcend all boundaries?

on a spur of the moment, i decided to watch 'Be With Me' today.

and this is the poster that's apparently banned in SG.
'cos it's of the 2 girls hugging each other. ( a bit off la. can't even see clearly that it's 2 girls!)

quite a couple of thoughts ran through my mind after i watched the movie.
mostly about the security guard and the 'So in Love' segment.
i guess the theresa chan segment was quite expected as SZ told me quite a lot about it. about how she overcame her disabilities to do the unbelievable. which i still think it really amazing.
the amount of willpower, to overcome the loneliness and darkness she has to face at such a young age of 14 years old. and even the determination to complete her studies in America.

i personally don't think i would have even half of her determination to achieve whatever she has achieved to this date.

The Security Guard

seeing him eat so much just makes me want to tell him to stop eating and go exercise.
seriously. he ate a bowl of noodles, beef steak and fries, something else and ordered one more plate of 'or luak', (which in my opinion, does not taste nice at all. cos it's just a lot of gooey and shell-fish taste like thingie)
AND! upon reaching home! he still had the energy to fry 1 can of stewed pork to eat with bread.
it just felt so sinful watching him eat all that fat-laden food.
especially when eric khoo makes puts his hair-covered belly right in ur face,
you just feel even more sad for him.
how in the world will he be able to attract lynn poh??
it is a sad reality that power-women aren't really all that attracted to pot-bellied, very hairy, shy security guards who go around hiding-behind-pots-of-plants-thinking-that-people-cannot-see-them-just-cos-their-heads-are-covered-by-the-bush-of-leaves.

Jackie

in my personal opinion, Ezann Lee is quite a pretty, cute lady.
(*eye candy indeed!)
haven't seen her actin on tv though.
but i must say her acting on the movie is not too amateurish.
my favourite scene from this segment is the part where they were dancing in the club, when Jackie was just looking(or rather admiring?) at Sam.
hmm.. that look of love and partially lust.
but it's so unjustifiable to end this story with her committing suicide!
(erm, i'm sure the critically-acclaimed Eric Khoo can come up with a better ending?)
or i think she cld hv been portrayed as being much more emotional and depressed.
like cutting herself?? i mean isn't it the latest issue causing a stir-up in some schools?
rather then just flinging a toy dog onto the wall, and screaming at her mother to "滚开!"

one thing which i was quite perturbed after this whole 'So in Love' segment, was 'How the hell did it make it through the (supposedly stringent) censorship board of Singapore?'
no, it's not abt them kissing.
but just about how this lesbianism issue is brought up.
perhaps the censorship board is starting to realise that our society is really quite open, and ready to view such issues with maturity.
or is it because they feel that this lesbianism issue is portrayed between teenagers, and that such relationships do not last when a species of the opposite sex comes and disrupt things up.
'cos afterall, we were (supposedly) created to fall in love with the opposite sex.
hence it is alright to screem this, cos presumingly we will get out of this 'straight-crooked', 'active-passive' stage during our our teenage-angst years, and finally meet the 'Man of our dreams'.

Theresa Chan

this lady is one fine, amazing, inspirational person.
who fell in love.
but sadly lost him to cancer.
who embraced life even as it came crashing down on her at the young tender age of fourteen.
who wholeheartedly loved everyone around her.
who can speak even though she's deaf and blind.
who can cook and clean despite her disabilities.
who inspired most around her. and that includes me.
